The Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) and the Federation is the umbrella association of private schools in the country. In addition to GNAPS there is the Foundation for Education Research and Development (FERD) formed with the aim of promoting excellence in education and providing a support network for member institutions in all spheres of their operations. GNAPS is setting standards and guidelines to govern the operations of private schools in Ghana, and is seeking a mandate from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to close down private schools that flouts guidelines.
